Illegal Asterix books
Have there ever been any Asterix books that were not done by Goscinny and Uderzo that were illegal?
Re: Illegal Asterix books
Hello Magnet,
There are also some professional made "parody" albums which were forbidden (in Germany at least) because the courts of law said that the "parodies" are plagiarism in truth. First of all this are the "Isterix" and "Alcolix" comics. But I don't know whether they exist in english, too or whether they are illegal in Britain.

Perhaps it's a good thing for Uderzo that Asterix never caught on in North America :o ... things like that are viewed/treated differently depending especially if it's parody, pastiche or porn - for the most part PARODY (making fun of the characters - like Abum 33 if Uderzo hadn't written it

This is a far more serious problem in the Tintin world, but these 'illegal' copies fall into 3 categories:
-Pirates . These are books by G and U, but that are published illegally, often if the original book is rather rare.
-Pastiches. These are done by fans and are designed to be very close to the style of G and U. Often the artwork is very good, and some can consider these to be real Asterix stories.
- Parodies. These are done to humiliate Asterix and are pretty discraceful. They are often used for pornographic or political purposes.

I've just seen the cover of one called 'Alcoholix'. It is at: http://makizart.free.fr/tintin_no/default.htm, but you have to scroll down a while to reach it. This also has many parodies of Tintin and Asterix on it.
