Hi,
I'm curious, what are the names of the charactes (mainly the Picts') in "Asterix and the Picts" in the different translations.
I like many of the ones chosen for the German translation. You have to think about most up them to get the idea and many "look" celtic.
I'll start here with listing the German ones with (page/panel) behind the name, where needed for identification.
Fafnie (the swimming inhabitant of the loch) --> Fafnir?
Mac Abberh (the evil chief) --> "makaber" (macabre, ghoulish)
Mac Aphon (the singing protagonist) --> "aphon" which he is, but also "Megafon" (megaphone)?
Mac Ymesserh (23/3 right, referred to in the left bubble) --> Macky Messer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mack_the_Knife)
Mac Yshnit (23/3 vice versa) --> "Meckischnitt" (a hair cut, http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meckifrisur)
Mac Abyte (26/8, the uncle) --> "megabyte"
Minimac (26/8, the brother)
Mac Mamah (27/4-5, obvious)
Mac Pomm (27/3 third but last name) --> Meck-Pomm (colloquial for the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern)
Mac Ulaturs (27/3 last one) --> Makulatur (waste paper in printing, or generally: obsolete things)
Mac Fay (30/1 the beaten bard) --> my guess: Peter Maffay, a german bard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Maffay), and I even dare to say: it is him also in the drawing
Mac Robiotic (the druid) --> macrobiotic

Re: Character names in book 35
My suggestions:
Mac Yshnit (23/3 vice versa) --> "Mag ich nicht" (Don't like)?
Minimac (26/8, the brother) --> Mac Mini (also known as Minimac, small version of Apple Computer)
